Terms of Use
Use of Pycom Radio Controller software is permitted as long as you have a valid key issued and managed by the license server. Licenses are freely available. You can generate a new license whenever you like. Make sure to update your configuration with your new license file linked to your Callsign.
I have used extensively with my IC-9700 and do not anticipate any problems however by using the software you agree to take full responsibility for any damage caused to your radio.
Why is there a License Process?
I'm just an average amateur radio operator and I have spent many hours developing the software. I would like to know who is downloading and using this software and also potentially provide help if issues are encountered, which is why I ask for an email address. I don't use Microsoft or Apple App Stores and have not paid the exorbitant fees for the privilege of being a certified developer on their platforms. I developed and host both the code base and the license server at my home and do not use any of the information provided for marketing or pass it onto third parties. You already know who I am, I don't hide my identity, all I ask for is your call sign and an email address and in return you get access to the software.
Why is the Codebase not Open Sourced?
I may choose to do so in the future. If I choose to do so, there are several changes that I would like to make first including support for multiple radios (I'm currently working on an IC 7610 integration) The code used my open source repository https://github.com/stevendodd/pycom as a starting point but has obviously grown substantially to incorporate the GUI and other features. I have also open sourced the RC-28 Controller integration which you can find here https://github.com/stevendodd/RC28Server
